Grain Merchandising

Relationships are key to our success, and that’s particularly true when it comes to our grain merchandising business: Richardson Ag Inc.

For decades, we’ve had a presence at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange through our merchandising team. Our Richardson Ag Inc. (formerly Mayco Export, Inc.) team serves as our customers’ eyes and ears on the grain markets. In addition to purchasing all of the wheat and durum for our St. Louis mill, Richardson Ag Inc. serves other major mills around the country. Through our elevators in North Dakota, we handle a large amount of durum origination in the U.S., which, along with our extensive contacts at a number of independent grain elevators, enables us to offer the best quality and price to our customers. The combination of our grain purchasing and merchandising services, from country origination to assisting exporters in originating and shipping grain, is unique in the industry.

Grains and services

Grains and services

Our team of experienced grain traders at Richardson Ag Inc. handles a wide variety of the grains marketed on the Minneapolis Grain Exchange. Driven in part by the demand of our mill located in St. Louis, Missouri, our primary focus has remained durum wheat. In addition, we handle spring wheat, winter wheat, barley, canola, sunflowers, and the other crops grown in North Dakota and eastern Montana.

As a grain commission trading firm and a member of the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Richardson Ag Inc. works with our customers (a large number of grain elevators in the upper Midwest) to secure the best market prices for the commodities that are being sold.

Our People

Richardson Ag Inc. Executive Vice President Tyson Giles was born and raised in an agriculture community within the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota. His experience includes originating and trading wheat in the northern plains, specifically from the Dakotas and Minnesota. Assisting Tyson is Mike Bartusch, durum merchant.

Our grain merchandising insiders enable us to share with our customers valuable information about planting intentions and price discovery insights. Since we’re trading a variety of grains, we know what the various qualities are trading at and the worth of different grades.
